Fight for Congress
The state’s 53 congressional districts will have elections. In 2016, half of the 14 Republican-held districts voted for Hillary Clinton for president. Some of the races are flooded with candidates. Those listed below have at least seven candidates on the ballot.
End of the Brown era
There are 27 candidates for governor on the primary ballot. Candidates’ backgrounds range from puppeteers to CEOs, but there is no incumbent.Gov. Jerry Brown has been governor longer than any other person, but after two stints covering 16 years in office, he is not eligible to run again.
